I think there’s a reasonable chance (55%) of a streamer tomorrow night; Euro4 is OTT though. If it occurrs 1-4cm at low levels, 2-6cm on high ground. Depends on the trough to our south.

The intensity means it takes longer for the snow to melt. As a result it falls further from the freezing line than light snow would given the same dew point etc. Light winds also helped and cold air aloft increased the lapse rate meaning the slice of >0C air was only quite short.

7.5C here. Rare to see such a contrast. Sadly it’s feeding extremely high frontal parcel trajectory (instability) and hence some incredible rain.

Hi Slidergate, it is not a pivot point (stall) it is more a pivot zone (sliding front). This is expected to occurr across the region now so minor issues there. Blue > rain to heavy wet sleet / snow producing 1-2.5cm locally with a transition back to rain due to a maritime layer
Purple > lighter sleet / wet snow producing 2mm to 2cm locally
Yellow > rain to snow producing 1-4cm fairly widely below 150m & up to 10cm in places above.
Orange > 5-12cm
