Harmonie, Arpege, WRF-NMM, GFS Para all going for snow to some extent over our region in the early hours of Thursday morning as the cold air dig in.

Main area of rain looks to be about 100 miles further North than was predicted yesterday, making majority of the Southern extent of the Amber warning area redundant for today. Meto yesterday extended the Amber warning area South and trimmed the Northern extent but that is currently looking like an error.

Wet all morning in Barnsley but so far only moderate rain. Worst at the moment seems to be further North West.

Snow prospects for Thursday seem limited for South Yorkshire, although Harmonie 6z and WRF-NMM 0z both show a short period over into the early hours of Thursday morning as the cold undercuts the ppn.

Overnight runs from Icon, GFS and ECM all take the low on Thursday on a NE track, deepening as it goes, into the North Sea. Ppn associated with it therefore take a more northerly easterly route and any snow from the front misses most of Yorkshire and instead shows more over NE England/Southern Scotland.
